Jet Cleaning Procedures - The New Normal

Hey Flight Attendants & Hopefuls!

If you've been following any of our previous posts discussing Covid-19, you know that we're going to see some shifts in the private aviation industry as things in the world start to normalize. One of the now-primary focuses of our job is going to be maintaining aircraft sanitation and disinfecting procedures to the highest possible standard.

If you’ve read your Industry Guides, you know that there are three prominent private jet manufacturers in our industry that build and design the planes that we fly most often – Gulfstream, Bombardier, and Dassault. Each one uses different materials to construct the aircraft interiors we work in, and each has their own preferred/recommended cleaning products to use on their surfaces. This post will go over the recommended products and procedures for each, as well as offer you an aircraft cleaning checklist to reference when you're prepping for your future flights.

On all aircraft models, wear safety masks and gloves (and eye protection if available) when cleaning.

For Hard Surfaces: Clean non-absorbant surfaces with a natural sponge or a clean low-lint cloth, moist with disinfectant. Allow disinfectant to sit two minutes, then remove with a low-lint cloth, moist with water. Dry surfaces with separate low-lint cloth.

For Soft Surfaces: (carpets, upholstery, leather, etc)

Use a spray applicator. Apply a wide-set spray mist of disinfectant with the spray applicator (do not soak). Allow to dry. Dry wipe from leather with low-lint cloth if needed.

Gulfstream-Recommended Products & Disinfectants:

Klercide 70/30 IPA Surface Disinfectant

Zoono Z-71 Surface Sanitizer

70/30 Mix of Isopropyl Alcohol & Water

Bombardier-Recommended Products & Disinfectants:

Calla 1452

Bacoban for Aerospace

Ki-ose 322 Concentrate

Noviruclean 3471

Quat Plus TB

Dassault-Recommended Products & Disinfectants:

AMS1452 RTU disinfectant by Zep Industries

Isopropyl Alcohol

Lysol Disinfecting Wipes

**PS - Always check with the aircraft MX manager before using a specific product**
